Oatmeal with Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1 quart boiling water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup grated cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 egg

Directions

  1. Put boiling water and salt over a quick fire ; stir in gradually the rolled oats till the mixture thickens, then cover and cook over boiling water 2 hours.
  2. At the last moment stir in cheese and butter, and just before serving, an egg, beaten light.
