Salad Soup



  1. Rub tureen or large bowl with garlic clove; spear garlic with toothpick and leave in bowl.
  2. Add tomatoes and cucumber.
  3. Slice scallions with about 2 inches of green tops; add with celery.
  4. Add oil and vinegar.
  5. Sprinkle with salt, freshly ground pepper, and monosodium glutamate; mix well.
  6. Add tomato juice.
  7. Chill at least 3 hours.
  8. Remove garlic.
  9. Serve with hot cheese crackers.
