Old-Time Rice Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar, or 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup seeded raisins

Directions

  1. Combine rice, milk, sugar, and salt; pour into greased 1-1/2 quart baking dish.
  2. Bake in a slow oven (300f) one hour, stirring several times.
  3. Add lemon peel, nutmeg, and raisins.
  4. Continue baking 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
  5. Serve hot or cold.
