Kysane Zeli (Saerkraut)

Ingredients

  • 2 quart sauerkraut
  • 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
  • water
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 tablespoon shortening
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 3/4 cup drippings

Directions

  1. Mix sauerkraut and caraway seed (if desired).
  2. Boil in an equal amount of water 10 minutes.
  3. Drain water off.
  4. Lightly brown onion (chopped) in shortening.
  5. Add about flour.
  6. Mix well and pour over kraut immediately.
  7. Stir and add 3/4 drippings from roasted duck or pork.
