Creamed Cabbage Baked

Ingredients

  • 3 cup cabbage, cut or chopped fine
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 quart water
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cup cracker or dry bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. Wash the cabbage and chop into half inch pieces.
  2. Cook in boiling water fifteen minutes.
  3. Drain and rinse with cold water.
  4. Make a white sauce by melting the butter, adding the flour and salt, and then adding the milk.
  5. Cook two minutes, stirring constantly.
  6. Add the cabbage, and pour into a well-buttered open baking dish.
  7. Melt the one tablespoon of butter, add the crumbs and mix well.
  8. Spread the buttered crumbs over the top of the cabbage.
  9. Bake fifteen minutes in a moderate oven.
  10. Serve in the dish.
