
Stuffed Peppers
Ingredients
- 4 peppers
- 4 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon pepper
- 1 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 4 tablespoon chopped meat, or 6 tablespoon grated cheese
Directions
- Vegetables should be thoroughly washed and cooked till tender in freshly boiling, salted water (1/2 tablespoon salt to 1 quart water).
- Remove stem end and seeds from the peppers and parboil 10 min.
- Drain thoroughly, turning upside down to dry, and fill with a stuffing made from the stale bread crumbs and the seasonings, adding enough boiling water to moisten well.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes in a moderate oven and serve with or without toast and brown sauce.
