Strudl s Jablky (Apple Strudl)

Ingredients

Directions

  1. For dough: warm cream and butter until butter melts.
  2. Add: salt, vanilla, egg yolks, sugar, flour.
  3. Knead dough and place in bowl which has been set in a pan of hot water so that the dough will remain warm.
  4. Prepare filling.
  5. For filling, mix: apples, sugar, cinnamon, bread crumbs (lightly browned in butter), nuts, raisins, butter.
  6. While dough is warm, stretch it over a floured cloth on the table until paper thin.
  7. Trim hard edges.
  8. Sprinkle with part of melted butter.
  9. Arrange apple slices over dough.
  10. Sprinkle with the remaining ingredients.
  11. Sprinkle with the remaining butter.
  12. Roll as for jelly roll.
  13. Arrange in a grease pan (15 x 18 inches).
  14. Bake about 1 hour at 350 degrees.
  15. While baking brush often with milk.
