
Spiced Grape Jelly
Ingredients
- 1 peck wild grapes, picked over, washed, drained and stemmed
- 1 quart vinegar
- 1/4 cup whole cloves
- 1/4 cup cinnamon, sticks
- 6 pound granulated sugar, or 3 quarts
Directions
- Heat the grapes, vinegar, cloves and cinnamon to the boiling-point, gradually, and let simmer till the grapes are soft.
- Strain through a double thickness of cheese-cloth or jelly-bag; return to preserving kettle, again bring to boiling-point and let simmer 20 minutes.
- Add the sugar which has been heated; let simmer 5 minutes, or until it jellies, and pour into glasses.
- Place in a sunny window and let stand 24 hours.
- Cover and keep in a cool, dry place.
