Shoo-Fly Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • a little ginger
  • cinnamon
  • cloves
  • 3/4 cup hot water

Directions

  1. Work shortening, brown sugar and flour together.
  2. Mix rest of ingredients well together and add hot water.
  3. Into an unbaked pie shell, combine the crumbs and liquid in alternate layers with crumbs on bottom and top.
  4. Bake 15 minutes at 450 degrees, then 20 minutes at 350 degrees.
