Gingerbread

Yield: 3 layers nine inches square

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix evaporated milk and vinegar.
  2. Sift flour, then measure.
  3. Resift into mixing bowl with other dry ingredients.
  4. Add molasses to the soured milk.
  5. Stir into dry ingredients.
  6. Add eggs, one at a time, and beat thoroughly, then add the shortening.
  7. Pour into well greased layer cake pans.
  8. Bake in a moderate oven (375f) 25 to 30 minutes.
