Egg Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 2 tablespoon lard
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon milk, for the top
  • 1 teaspoon sugar, for the top

Directions

  1. Mix and sift the flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Cut in the fat with a knife.
  3. Add the egg and milk, using the knife toe make a soft dough.
  4. Toss onto a floured board.
  5. Roll out to a thickness of one-fourth an inch.
  6. Cut out with a round cooky cutter, three inches in diameter.
  7. Brush over with milk.
  8. Fold over like pocket-book rolls.
  9. Place in a tin pan and brush over the top with one tablespoon of milk to which has been added one teaspoon of sugar.
  10. Bake in a moderate oven for twenty minutes.
