Boiled Onions

Ingredients

  • 8 onions
  • 2 quart boiled salted water
  • 2 tablespoon butter
  • salt, to taste
  • pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup hot milk

Directions

  1. Peel under water and let stand 1/2 to 1 hour in cold water to which a little cooking-soda has been added.
  2. Drain and add fresh water at least twice while cooking.
  3. Cook 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
  4. Serve with required seasonings or add 1 1/2 cup white sauce.
