Barbecued Spareribs

Ingredients

  • 4 pound spareribs
  • 2 tablespoon butter, or margarine
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  1. Have spareribs cut in serving size pieces.
  2. Brown slowly in two 10-inch skillets; put in a baking pan.
  3. Pour fat from skillet, melt butter in skillet; add onion; cook until brown.
  4. Add next 9 ingredients; simmer 20 minutes.
  5. Set oven for moderate 350f.
  6. Pour sauce over ribs.
  7. Bake, covered, 1 1/2 hours.
