A-la-mode Beef

Ingredients

  • 2 pound leg of beef
  • drippings
  • flour
  • 6 onions
  • 3 carrots
  • 3 pint water
  • pepper
  • salt
  • chopped herbs

Directions

  1. Cut the beef small, flour the pieces well, put them with some dripping into a stew-pan over the fire until they are of a light brown color, stirring all the time; cut the onions and carrots into small pieces and add them with the water and seasoning to the stew pan; cover the pan close down and let it stew gently for two or three hours.
  2. Serve with boiled potatoes and other vegetables.
