Steamed Bran Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup bran
  • 4 tablespoon raisins
  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 2 tablespoon chopped nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon soda
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoon water

Directions

  1. Mix the bran, flour, soda, baking powder, salt, raisins and nuts.
  2. Add the molasses, sugar, milk and water.
  3. Stir well for two minutes.
  4. Fill a well-buttered mould one-half full of the mixture.
  5. Cover with the lid, well-buttered, and steam for two hours.
  6. The steaming may be done in the fireless cooker, if desired.
