Philadelphia Baked Beans

Ingredients

  • 3 pint soup beans
  • 1 pound fresh pork
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • salt

Directions

  1. Soak over night 3 pints of soup beans in enough water to cover them.
  2. Take 1 pound of fresh pork, 2 tablespoonfuls of brown sugar, salt to taste, and add to the beans.
  3. Stir all together in an earthen crock, and set to bake in a moderate oven for about three hours.
  4. Add a little water from time to time as the beans dry in the baking.
