Nonpareil Corn Bread
Ingredients
- 2 cup corn meal
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon lard
- 2 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions
- Beat the whites and yolks of the eggs separately and thoroughly; then melt the lard and add.
- Into the dry meal and flour mixed, sift the soda and cream-tartar, and add these to the eggs, lard, and milk.
- Beat vigorously.
- Bake in a quick and steady oven for thirty minutes.
