Easy Devil's Food Cake



  1. Set oven for moderate, 350f.
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Combine eggs and sugar.
  5. Add shortening, vanilla, and chocolate and stir to mix well.
  6. Add sifted dry ingredients, a little at a time, alternately with milk.
  7. Pour into pans.
  8. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched with fingertip.
  9. Cool in pans 5 minutes.
  10. Remove to a rack; cool.
  11. Frost as desired.
