Harvard Beets

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoon butter, or margarine
  • 2 tablespoon flour
  • 1/4 cup beet, liquid from can
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • few grains pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 2 1/2 cup sliced beets

Directions

  1. Melt butter or margarine: add flour; blend.
  2. Add beet liquid; cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
  3. Add brown sugar, vinegar, salt, pepper, and cloves: stir until sugar dissolves.
  4. Drain beets; add.
  5. Heat thoroughly.
