Beef Loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 pound beef, cut from the round
  • 1 teaspoon onion salt
  • 1/4 pound salt pork
  • 1/4 cup cracker, or bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. Grind the meat well, and mix all the ingredients excepting the butter.
  2. Pat into an oblong shape and place in a well-buttered pan.
  3. Add three tablespoons of water to the pan, and place the butter in small pieces on the top of the loaf.
  4. Cover the pan and bake thirty-five minutes in a moderate oven.
