Steamed Date Pudding

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup soft fresh bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 2/3 cup dates, chopped fine
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup fine chopped suet
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk

Directions

  1. Mix all the ingredients in the order given.
  2. Stir well for two minutes, and place in a buttered mould.
  3. Steam two hours on the stove or in the fireless cooker.
  4. Serve hot with lemon sauce.
