Steamed Boston Brown Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rye meal or rye flour
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 1 cup graham flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 2 cup sour milk

Directions

  1. Mix thoroughly, turn at once into a greased mold, add a greased cover or tie a greased paper over the top.
  2. Steam at least 4 hours, if all in one loaf.
  3. Remove from mold and dry in the oven a few minutes.
