
Orange Nut Bread
Ingredients
- 1 large or 2 small oranges
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Boiling water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup seedless raisins
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 cup sifted enriched flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup graham flour
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions
- Cut oranges with rind left on-into 1-inch pieces.
- Cover with water boil 10 minutes, drain.
- Save liquid.
- Add raisins to orange pulp, blend thoroughly.
- Place medium blade m food grinder.
- Grind fruits.
- Combine flour, graham flour, baking powder, salt, sugar.
- Blend thoroughly- do not sift.
- Gradually add fruits to dry ingredients, stirring constantly.
- Add egg, beat vigorously, dissolve baking soda in orange iiquid.
- There should be one cup of, liquid.
- Add water, if necessary.
- Gradually add iiquid to dry ingredients, beating vigorously.
- Add vanilla, nuts.
- Blend thoroughly.
- Pour into well-oiled pan-bake fifty minutes, 350 degrees.
