Old-Fashioned Apple Pie

Ingredients

  • 2 pie pastries
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoon flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 - 8 large tart apples
  • 2 tablespoon butter, or margarine

Directions

  1. Line 9-inch pie pan, using half the pastry.
  2. Roll out remaining pastry for top crust.
  3. Set oven for hot, 400f.
  4. Mix sugar, flour, and spices.
  5. Spread a little of the sugar mixture over the bottom of pastry lined pan.
  6. Pare apples; cut in quarters.
  7. Remove cores; slice thin.
  8. Arrange apples in pan; sprinkle with remaining sugar mixture.
  9. Dot with butter or margarine.
  10. Cut slits in top crust; adjust over apples.
  11. Seal edges; trim; flute.
  12. Bake 50 to 60 minutes until apples are tender.
