Macaroni with Cheese

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound macaroni
  • 1/2 pound swiss cheese
  • penny bunch parsley
  • 6 tablespoon tomato sauce, or roast beef gravy

Directions

  1. Break the macaroni into three or four inches in length and soak in cold water about fifteen minutes.
  2. Then boil until tender, in about one-third milk and two-thirds salted boiling water.
  3. Drain it well in a colander.
  4. Put a layer of macaroni in the bottom of an earthen dish; add a layer of the cheese grated, sprinkling over it the minced parsley, the tomato sauce or gravy, and a little salt and pepper.
  5. Repeat this twice, adding to the top a layer of bread crumbs.
  6. Place in the oven and serve when brown.
