Hartford Tea Cake

Ingredients

  • 7 cup flour
  • 6 cup sugar
  • 3 cup butter
  • 3 cup milk
  • 8 eggs
  • 1/2 cup brandy, warmed in milk
  • 2 pound raisins
  • 2 pound currants
  • 1 1/2 pound citron
  • spices, to taste
  • 4 teaspoon baking powder

Directions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar; add the beaten yolks, milk, and spices.
  2. Then, the whipped whites stirred in alternately with the flour.
  3. Lastly, the fruit.
