Golden Glory Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 1/2 cup cake flour
  • 4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup lard
  • 2 2/3 cup sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 cup canned unsweetened pineapple juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 egg whites

Directions

  1. Sift flour, measure and sift again with the baking powder and salt.
  2. Cream lard, gradually add the sugar and cream thoroughly.
  3. Add unbeaten egg yolks and beat well.
  4. Alternately add the sifted dry ingredients with the pineapple juice.
  5. Add vanilla.
  6. Mix until smooth.
  7. Fold in the egg whites beaten until stiff but not dry.
  8. Bake in three 8-inch layers in a moderately hot oven (375f) for 25 to 30 minutes.
