Extra Crisp Waffles

Directions

  1. Heat waffle baker according to manufacturer's directions.
  2. Mix and sift flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat egg yolks until light.
  4. Combine with milk.
  5. Add milk mixture slowly to dry ingredients, stirring until batter is smooth.
  6. Add melted shortening.
  7. Beat egg whites stiff, but not dry: fold in.
