Gold Hearts

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 7/8 cup flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. Cream the butter, add the sugar, and mix well.
  2. Add the egg yolks, beaten well, and the water, milk, flour, baking powder, lemon extract and salt.
  3. Beat for two minutes.
  4. Pour into a large flat pan prepared with waxed paper.
  5. The batter should be three-fourths of an inch thick in the pan.
  6. Bake twelve minutes in a moderate oven.
  7. Remove the paper, and cut when cool with a heart-shaped cooky cutter.
  8. Wet the cutter with water before using, as this assures even edges.
  9. Keep in a moist place until ready to serve.
