Praskovy Knedliky (Baking Powder Dumplings)



  1. Sfit flour, baking powder, salt together.
  2. Add beaten egg and milk.
  3. Add butter to batter.
  4. Form into balls, about the size of a large egg.
  5. Drop into slightly salted boiling water.
  6. Boil about 5 to 8 minutes or until cooked through.
  7. Test by taking 1 out and open to see if done.
  8. If you wish to fill the dumplings, use the following procedure.
  9. Wash italian prunes and partially slice each open and remove pit.
  10. Mix together sugar with cinnamon and 1 teaspoon flour.
  11. Put 1 level teaspoon of this mixture into each plum and close.
  12. Put prepared plum into the center of each patty and wrap dough well around plum and seal.
  13. Boil water with 1 tablespoon salt in large kettle.
  14. Drop dumplings into fast boiling water and boil 12 to 15 minutes.
  15. Drain.
  16. When dumplings have been drained and dried slightly, pour melted butter over them.
