French Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 pound butter, (2 cups) or 1 pint shortening
  • 1 pound powdered sugar
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cup pastry, flour
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder

Directions

  1. Have a dredge filled with powdered sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg, and when the cookies come from the oven dip a brush in melted butter and go over them and sprinkle on sugar and spice.
  2. Cool and put in jar alone.
