Filling

Ingredients

  • 7 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 tablespoon flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Mix the sugar, flour and salt.
  2. Add slowly the egg-yolk, beaten, and the milk.
  3. Stir well.
  4. Cook ten minutes in a double boiler, stirring occasionally to prevent lumping.
  5. Add vanilla and remove from the fire.
  6. When partially cool, spread part of the filling over one layer of the cake.
  7. Allow to stand five minutes and then add more filling.
  8. Allow to stand two minutes.
  9. Place the other layer on the top.
  10. Spread a meringue over the whole and place in a hot oven long enough to brown it delicately.
