Brown Betty
Ingredients
- 2 cup bread crumbs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 apples
- 2 teaspoon cinnamon
- a little butter
Directions
- Grease a baking dish and line with a layer of sliced apples, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixed.
- Then a layer of bread crumbs, with more cinnamon and sugar.
- Alternate apples and bread crumbs until the pan is filled, covering finally with bread crumbs.
- Small flakes of butter will make the pudding richer and, if you like, you may flavor with a little lemon juice.
- Bake in a moderate oven for forty-five minutes, keeping the dish covered until the last ten minutes of baking.
- Serve with hard sauce.
