Bettina's Apples

Ingredients

  • 12 apples
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 cup 'C' sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cup water
  • 18 marshmallows
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

  1. Wash, peel and core the apples.
  2. Place in a broad flat pan in which the sugar and water have been thoroughly mixed.
  3. Cook the apples, turning often until tender, remove from the syrup and place in a serving dish.
  4. Fill the center with one-half a marshmallow.
  5. Add the cinnamon and butter to the syrup and cook five minutes or until it thickens.
  6. Pour over and around the apples.
  7. Decorate with a marshmallow cut into fourths.
  8. Serve warm.
