Toad-in-the-Hole

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound cooked or uncooked meat, scraps
  • 1 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 pound flour
  • salt
  • 2 eggs

Directions

  1. Grease a pie-dish or baking-tin ; lay the pieces of meat in it ; make a batter by stirring the water gradually into the flour and salt, beat in the eggs one at a time, then beat all together, pressing out any lumps against the sides of the basin, let it stand two hours if possible, then pour it over the meat and bake in a quick oven about 1/2 hour.
