Strawberry Preserves

Ingredients

  • 4 pound strawberries
  • 3 pound sugar
  • 3 cup water

Directions

  1. Pick over, wash and hull the berries.
  2. Make a syrup by boiling the sugar and water fifteen minutes.
  3. Fill sterilized jars with the berries.
  4. Cover with syrup and let stand fifteen minutes to settle.
  5. Add more berries.
  6. Adjust rubbers and covers.
  7. Place on a folded cloth in a kettle of cold water.
  8. Heat water to boiling point and cook slowly one hour.
  9. Screw on covers securely.
