Nut Caramels
Ingredients
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup light corn syrup
- 1 1/3 cup condensed milk
- water
- 2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup pecan, meats
Directions
- Combine brown sugar, brown sugar, butter, light corn syrup, 1 1/3 cup condensed milk and 2/3 cup milk.
- Cook over a low flame, stirring constantly, until temperature reaches 246f or until a ball is formed when dropped in water.
- The time is approximately 1 hour.
- Remove from fire and add vanilla and pecan.
- Turn at once into a slightly buttered pan about 9 inches square.
- As soon as candy is cold, turn on waxed paper and cut in straight pieces about 1 inch square.
