Moravian Christmas Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 pound brown sugar
- 1 pound butter
- 4 pound flour
- 1 quart New Orleans cooking molasses
- 1/2 ounce ginger
- 1/2 ounce cloves
- 1 ounce cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 orange juice
Directions
- Mix all together, except the flour, being careful to heat enough to melt the butter.
- Then " work in " the flour.
- This makes a large quantity, as the cakes should be rolled very thin.
- Keep the cookies in a dry place, and they will be crisp and delicious as long as they last, even for months.
