Molasses Puffs

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup butter, and lard (melted)
  • 2 teaspoon soda
  • 3 cup flour

Directions

  1. Mix the molasses and sugar.
  2. Add the hot water and fat.
  3. Beat well, add the egg and mix thoroughly.
  4. Sift the ginger, cinnamon, flour and soda together, and add to the rest of the ingredients, mixing well.
  5. Fill well-buttered muffin pans three-fourths full.
  6. Bake in a moderate oven for twenty-five minutes.
  7. Ice with 'c' sugar icing.
