Mock Mince Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 cup stoned raisins
  • 1 cup washed currants
  • 1/2 cup cut citron
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup cider
  • 2 cup apples, pared, cored and chopped fine
  • 1 lemon, juice and grated rind
  • 3 Boston (or 4 soda) crackers, rolled fine
  • 2 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground mace

Directions

  1. Mix the ingredients thoroughly, and if the mixture should not be moist enough, add cider (or water) to moisten it.
  2. Line two deep pie plates with good plain paste, fill them with the mixture, and put on an upper crust; then bake the pies thirty minutes in a quick oven.
