Mock Mince Pie
Ingredients
- 1 cup stoned raisins
- 1 cup washed currants
- 1/2 cup cut citron
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup cider
- 2 cup apples, pared, cored and chopped fine
- 1 lemon, juice and grated rind
- 3 Boston (or 4 soda) crackers, rolled fine
- 2 tablespoon vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground mace
Directions
- Mix the ingredients thoroughly, and if the mixture should not be moist enough, add cider (or water) to moisten it.
- Line two deep pie plates with good plain paste, fill them with the mixture, and put on an upper crust; then bake the pies thirty minutes in a quick oven.
