Jumbles

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound sugar
  • 3/4 pound butter, creamed very well
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 nutmeg, grated
  • 3 eggs, whites beaten stiff, and 1 yolk after another dropped in
  • salt
  • a handful sugar
  • a handful flour, run over moulding board and then rub to one side
  • dough, size of hickory nut. Roll between fingers and under hand, joining ends to form ring

Directions

  1. Split dough into pieces size of hickory nut.
  2. Roll between fingers and under hand, joining ends to form ring.
  3. Put in dripping pan (without buttering).
  4. Bake 10 minutes.
  5. Do not keep with other cake.
  6. Oven must be moderate.
