Hot Biscuit

Ingredients

  • 1 pint hot milk
  • 1/3 cup lard
  • 1/2 cup yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • flour, enough to make a thick sponge
  • 1 tablespoon sugar

Directions

  1. Pour hot milk over lard.
  2. Add, when nearly cool, yeast, salt, and flour to make a thick sponge.
  3. Let it stand until light (about three hours) and then knead, add sugar and flour if necessary.
  4. After a second rising roll out and cut into biscuits about a half hour before baking.
  5. Bake twenty minutes in a hot oven.
