Grandma Slifer's Ketchup Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 peck tomatoes, pared, and chopped
  • 1 teacup salt
  • 2 ounce whole black pepper
  • 1 ounce ground cloves
  • 2 tablespoon allspice
  • 2 red peppers, cut fine
  • 4 large onions
  • 1 quart vinegar

Directions

  1. Boil one hour, stirring all the time.
  2. Just before taking off, add 1 quart strong vinegar.
  3. When cold, bottle and seal.
