Fig Sandwiches
Ingredients
- brown bread
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 lemon
- 1/4 pound seeded raisins
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 pound figs
Directions
- Cut brown bread in thin slices and spread with the following mixture: boil together rest of ingredients.
- Simmer till soft; add teaspoonful vanilla ; beat to a smooth paste and spread on bread.
- Alternate slices of brown and white bread, buttered and pressed closely together and cut transversely, make attractive sandwiches.
