
Dried-apple Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup apple
- sugar
- lemon
Directions
- Allow 1 cup of fruit for four servings.
- Wash thoroughly, cover with cold water, soak for several hours, and cook gently in same water till soft.
- About 15 minutes before removing from fire add sugar to taste.
- The flavor is improved by the addition of a few slices of lemon with the sugar.
- Strain before serving.
- Stewed apricots variation: make as above, omitting lemon and do not strain.
- Stewed peaches variation: replace apples with peaches.
- Stewed prunes variation: use 2 cups for four servings and do not strain.
