Dried-apple Sauce

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Allow 1 cup of fruit for four servings.
  2. Wash thoroughly, cover with cold water, soak for several hours, and cook gently in same water till soft.
  3. About 15 minutes before removing from fire add sugar to taste.
  4. The flavor is improved by the addition of a few slices of lemon with the sugar.
  5. Strain before serving.
  6. Stewed apricots variation: make as above, omitting lemon and do not strain.
  7. Stewed peaches variation: replace apples with peaches.
  8. Stewed prunes variation: use 2 cups for four servings and do not strain.
