Chocolate Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 4 tablespoon cocoa
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 3 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Cream the butter, add the sugar.
  2. Stir in the egg and beat well.
  3. Add the cinnamon, cloves, baking powder, cocoa, flour, vanilla and water.
  4. Beat vigorously for two minutes.
  5. Bake in well-buttered gem pans for eighteen minutes.
  6. Serve warm if desired.
