Butterscotch Cookies

Yield: 10 dozen, two and one-half in diameter

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Sift, flour, then measure.
  2. Resift with cream of tartar and soda, cream shortening with vanilla, add sugar and continue creaming until free from sugar granules.
  3. Add egg and milk.
  4. Add flour mixture and stir until flour just disappears.
  5. Add nuts and dates.
  6. Form into rolls.
  7. Chill thoroughly, then slice very thin with a sharp knife.
  8. Place on greased baking sheets and bake in a hot oven (400f) until delicately brown, about 10 minutes.
