York State Snaps

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark sugar
  • 1 cup New Orleans molasses
  • 1/2 cup shortening, of any kind
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon soda, dissolved in a little water
  • enough flour, to roll very thin

Directions

  1. Bake in a quick oven.
