Whole-Wheat Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cup scalded milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar, or 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 yeast cake
  • 1/4 cup water, to soften yeast cake
  • 3 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • white flour, enough to knead

Directions

  1. 1 cupful liquid yeast or "leaven " may be used in place of 1 yeast cake.
  2. Use less liquid in the bread.
