
Washington Cake
Ingredients
- 3 ounce butter
- 6 ounce sugar
- 7 ounce flour
- 2 eggs, well beaten
- 1 gill sour milk or buttermilk
- pinch of mace
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, dissolved in a little sweet milk
Directions
- Cream butter and sugar together, add the well-beaten eggs and the sour milk, then flour (sifted), mace, vinegar and soda.
- Bake in a moderate oven.
